Building Access

Building access is provided and monitored by the RUPD, but an individual’s responsibility to control building access is critical for crime prevention and personal safety.

Students
  • Students/Residents needing a housing key must go to Housing.
  • Students needing card access to academic buildings or labs must go to their department head.
Faculty and Staff
  • Scheduling and card requests for academic and administrative buildings should be filed with the specific building coordinator in each building.
  • Find the building coordinator in the campus contact lists below:

  • To order keys for your building, please enter a ticket into the Security Technologies Shop work order system
  • Requesting department will be notified when the key is ready for pick-up.
  • Requesting department pays a non-refundable fee for each key produced with a paper internal purchase order or through RIAS. Cash is not accepted.
  • Follow the above procedure for replacement keys.
Residence Hall Security Program

At the beginning of and throughout each academic year Community Policing Officers conduct Safety Awareness Programs to all Residence Hall occupants.
